Diana will describe the background to the Neville family, who started life in north Manchester in the dyestuffs industry, then moved to live in Burnage, followed by Didsbury and bought Bramall Hall. Along the way their involvement with St James' Church in Didsbury, the Calico Printers Association and other Manchester organisations will be illustrated. Finally, the link of Bramall Hall to the creation of Manchester United FC and who made it will be revealed.
Dr Diana Leitch is a world-renowned scientist who has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours for services to chemistry. She is an independent consultant who is internationally respected for her work as an academic librarian and information professional. She is a trustee at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes where she won nationwide acclaim for the inspirational Origin project which captures the birth of chemical elements in stars. Finally, she is, of course, passionate about Didsbury and its history.
