What is the u3a?
u3a is a national charity set up for people in their "3rd age" i.e., no longer working and have time to rekindle old interests/hobbies or start new ones. The whole ethos of u3a is about "Learn, Laugh, Live". Both as a member and in our groups, we certainly do that!
What does South Manchester u3a do?
We are an evolving, vibrant, energetic group of people that not only enjoy the benefits of being members of an interest group or groups but also have club wide social events during the year for all members to join in with. These include our monthly speaker meetings.
Another benefit of membership is that it will help you meet new people and increase your social circle and network.
Why not join-up? It’s only a small amount to pay for some interest and fun in this phase of your life?
Monthly General Meeting
We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at Didsbury Baptist Church, 33A Beaver Road, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 6SX at 2pm. Please note that the entrance is off School Lane.
Each month we usually have guest speakers talking about a wide variety of subjects. This is followed by a tea or coffee with biscuits and a chance to have a chat. We charge £1.00 for members and guests to attend our meeting.
Groups can meet weekly or monthly and at a variety of venues in the area. At this moment, there are around 500 members enjoying participation in many groups, ranging from Ukulele playing to Philosophy. Please contact the Groups Co-ordinator for more details.
Only paid-up members of South Manchester u3a may attend our interest groups. However, we do allow 2 "taster sessions" when you may attend a group to see if it is for you before joining South Manchester u3a. You may have one taster session per group. You need to contact the Groups Co-ordinator to see if there is room in the group.
