“Strange Meetings – A Performance on Wilfred Owen” by Shaun Higgins

Event type: Meeting
Date: 6th July 2027
Time: 2:00 pm
Venue: Didsbury Baptist Church
Cost: £1

This performance documents the final 15 months of Wilfred Owen’s life when he was at Craiglockhart Hospital with shellshock and met Siegfried Sassoon. His poetry flourished before his return to the front, his final battle and death. Shaun will be in full WWI uniform, use props and have handouts. He has previously performed this show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.

Shaun Higgins got into amateur dramatics many years ago and began to find a way of story-telling on a personal level, a chance to share the stories of those who can’t necessarily speak for themselves. He has always had a love of writing and engaging people with a powerful narrative. He has a master’s degree in creative writing from Chester University and a PhD from Sheffield University. In the past ten years he has been involved in more than forty productions, from Shakespeare to pantomime. He has written and performed three times at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
