Our first walk of 2024 was well attended by 26 people keen to work off the turkey and Christmas pudding from last month. The weather was brilliant considering it was January. The rain stayed away and the sun put his hat on. Hip, hip, hooray!

We met at the Parrs Wood cinema complex and walked via the Waterside Hotel and Spa down to the river Mersey. We followed the path by the river along to Millgate Fields. There was some mud around and we all had fun jumping over the puddles. At Millgate Fields, we left the river path and skirted through Stenner Woods and into Fletcher Moss, finally ending up at our lunch spot at Ye Olde Cock Inn.

A lovely walk was then spoilt by poor service in the pub. Despite pre-ordering our lunches, it was still 45 minutes before they brought them to us. We definitely will not be dining in that establishment again. We didn’t let it spoil our day however and it was great to catch up with people whom we hadn’t seen for two months.
