Our walk today was in glorious sunshine as you can see from the photograph. Being the end of November, it was cold but we were all wrapped up well. Twenty of us met at Piccadilly Station then headed off towards Piccadilly Basin where we joined the Rochdale canal. We followed the canal towpath through the centre of Manchester and out through Ancoats and Newton Heath eventually reaching Failsworth. The bright sunshine meant that the reflections on the still waters of the canal were beautiful when the geese weren’t swimming around. Upon reaching Failsworth, we had lunch at the Millgate pub. The food and the service were first class and we all enjoyed catching up over a hot meal. That’s our last walk of 2023. We will be taking a well-earned rest in December to enjoy the festivities. May our 2024 walks be as enjoyable as this year’s.
